On the official channels of the State of Qatar, the information has not yet been confirmed.

A source familiar with the matter nevertheless assured AFP and several other local media including Doha News: a Qatari plane has landed in Kabul.

On board, a technical team would be responsible for discussing "the resumption of operations at Hamid Karzai airport".

The aim would be to facilitate “

humanitarian assistance

 ” as well as “

freedom of movement

 ”.

No final agreement has been reached, however, adds this source.

But the Taliban, through a spokesperson, claimed to have officially asked for Doha's help in managing the airport "as

soon as possible

 ."

For many years, the Gulf monarchy has indeed maintained privileged links with this organization which took possession of the Afghan capital on August 15.

This is precisely what earned him his role as essential mediator.

Yesterday, the Netherlands also announced to transfer their embassy from Kabul to Doha.

Earlier, the United States and Great Britain had made the same choice.

Other countries may soon follow.
