Refueling was more expensive for gasoline car drivers in August than in any other month of the current year.

That comes from a comparison of the car club ADAC.

Accordingly, a liter of Super E10 cost an average of 1.557 euros per month, one cent more than in July.

Diesel drivers, on the other hand, were able to refuel a little cheaper: The monthly average price for a liter of diesel was 1.386 euros - that was 0.3 cents less than in July.

According to ADAC, the increased gasoline price is due in particular to the increased demand due to summer travel.

The most expensive day to fill up with gasoline was August 8th.

A liter cost an average of 1.567 euros per day.

This price also marked the preliminary annual high.

The most expensive day of the month and of the year also coincided with diesel: On August 1st, diesel drivers had to accept a new annual record with a liter price of 1.403 euros.

Further price increase on a weekly basis

Compared to last week, the fuel prices have recently risen again significantly, reports the ADAC.

According to the latest evaluation, a liter of Super E10 costs a nationwide average of 1.558 euros and a liter of diesel 1.387 euros.

Both types are 1.6 cents more expensive than in the previous week.

There are considerable differences depending on the time of day and the petrol station.

According to ADAC, petrol and diesel are currently cheapest between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. and between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

If you take this rule of thumb into account and take advantage of the price differences between the different times of the day and the providers, you can always save a few euros when refueling.

There are also considerable differences in the price of petrol depending on the location, as can be seen from an overview on the Clever Tanken internet portal.

In some cities such as Trier, Remscheid, Wuppertal or Wiesbaden, the liter of Super E10 recently cost an average of more than 1.60 euros per liter.

In contrast, fuel is relatively cheap in Kaiserslautern, for example, at 1.524 euros per liter for Super E10 and 1.342 euros per liter for diesel.

The prices at the motorway filling stations are out of the ordinary. Here, drivers have recently paid more than 1.80 euros per liter for Super E10 on travel days.
