The European Union on
Monday removed the US from the list of safe countries
by Covid whose citizens were authorized to make non-essential trips without restrictions to member countries.
This means that people from this country who travel to the territory of the EU for tourism or pleasure will have to again undergo restrictions, such
as carrying out PCR tests or quarantines.
This is a recommendation that
is not binding on the member states,
so they will be the ones to decide, although the Commission warns that this should not be done without a coordinated agreement within the Union.
In addition to the US,
Israel, Kosovo, Lebanon, Montenegro and the Republic of North Macedonia have been removed from the list,
the EU Council reported in a statement.
The EU allows non-essential travel for citizens of non-EU countries who have been vaccinated since June 7, just before the summer season began.
From now on they will have to justify their trip again.
Otherwise,
each country must determine whether or not to impose quarantine.
A month ago the US also recommended not traveling to some European countries, including Spain, due to the increase in infections.
