The July shipment value of digital home appliances such as TVs and recorders fell below the same month of the previous year for the first time in a year and a month due to the end of the so-called "needing demand" accompanying the spread of the new coronavirus infection, and became negative. I turned around.

According to JEITA = Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association, which is made by electrical appliances manufacturers, the domestic shipment value of digital home appliances in July was 108.2 billion yen, a decrease of 10.6% from the same month last year.

Shipments of digital home appliances continued to increase due to demand for nesting due to the spread of the new corona infection and the penetration of telework, but fell below the same month of the previous year for the first time in a year and a month, and turned negative.

By product, sales of “video equipment” such as flat-screen TVs decreased by 19.7%, the first negative figure in seven months, and sales of audio-related equipment such as speakers decreased by 26%.

On the other hand, sales of automobile-related equipment such as car navigation systems increased by 23.7% due to strong sales of automobiles, but there is a delay in manufacturing in some areas due to the shortage of semiconductors.

Regarding the future outlook, the Japan Electronics and Information Technology Industries Association said, "Demand for nesting has run its course and is weakening. For automobile-related equipment, it is necessary to pay close attention to the impact of semiconductor shortages on production."
