Last month's domestic shipments of so-called white goods such as air conditioners and refrigerators fell by more than 8% from the same month last year as demand for nesting due to the new coronavirus has run its course.

According to the Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association, the domestic shipment value of white goods last month was about 249 billion yen, 8.5% lower than the same month last year.

The decrease in shipment value is the second consecutive month.

This is due to the reaction to the double-digit increase in shipment value due to a large increase in sales of home appliances last year due to the effect of nesting demand due to the influence of the new corona and the effect of a flat-rate benefit of 100,000 yen.

By product, air purifiers, which had been increasing due to heightened hygiene awareness, decreased by 33.7% for the first time in 1 year and 4 months, and washing machines decreased by 18.4% for the first time in 10 months. It became negative.

In addition, refrigerators decreased by 9.4% and air conditioners decreased by 5.9%.

Regarding the outlook for the future, the Japan Electrical Manufacturers' Association said, "Many consumers have replaced their products such as air conditioners last year, and it seems that the effects of the penetration of telework and the demand for nesting have come to an end. It seems that the tendency to crack will continue. "
