A new survey conducted by Oliver Wyman International, a management consultancy, revealed that about 70% of consumers around the world plan to take their trips locally within the next six months, but the percentage of those who have booked their flights so far did not exceed 10%.

Witty continued: "The travel sector remains part of the diversification strategy pursued by governments in the Middle East, especially in the UAE, where major events and exhibitions such as (Expo 2020 Dubai), the Dubai Airshow, and the (ADIPEC) Awards Ceremony will contribute to promoting the recovery of Leisure and business trips.

According to “Oliver Wyman”, 76% of the respondents expected to take recreational trips after the “Covid-19” pandemic, equal to or greater than before, and the movement of passengers from US airports will match, and may even exceed the rate of travel before. epidemic, in early 2022.

The results showed that leisure travel at the global level is still the most affected by the epidemic, as most travelers chose to stay in the orbit of their countries, as Chinese travelers by 81%, Americans by 67%, and Australians by 62%, will prefer domestic travel when restrictions are lifted.

Canadian travelers (54%), and most European travelers, would like to take short trips abroad.

The results showed that a state of optimism prevails among business travelers about the return of corporate trips, as 75% of business travelers expect to return to doing business trips equal to or greater than what it was before the epidemic.

The business travel sector will witness different changes, according to each country. For example, business travelers in the United States, China, and Australia are preparing to travel much more than they were before the pandemic, while European businessmen are still planning to travel, but at levels lower than what they were before the pandemic. before the epidemic.

According to "Oliver Wyman", price is the most important criterion influencing when making travel decisions, and it has continued in this way even during the epidemic, as 66% of global travelers classify price as one of the three most important factors influencing the purchase of a travel card.

Hygiene has also become a less important factor in travel decisions, as the epidemic subsides.

17% of consumers globally, and 12% of consumers in the United States, considered environmental sustainability one of the three most important factors when deciding between booking a flight and another.

70% of travelers were willing to enroll in the digital identity program, which provides data on immunization status and other healthcare data, while vaccinated participants were more willing to share their data compared to unvaccinated travelers.
