The federal government is massively expanding its state subsidies.

The main reason for this is funding for more climate and environmental protection, announced the Federal Ministry of Finance on Wednesday in Berlin.

The volume of financial aid and tax breaks climbed to 47.2 billion euros by 2022.

In 2019 it was only 24.6 billion euros.

On Wednesday, the cabinet approved the subsidy report for the years 2019 to 2022. Subsidies are a key component in providing impetus for consumers and the economy.

"The federal government's subsidy policy is based on the principle that subsidies as adjustment aid should only be granted for a limited period and on a transitional basis."

There are new subsidies, among other things, for energy-efficient buildings, the purchase of electric cars and grants for the purchase of buses and commercial vehicles with climate-friendly drives.

The charging infrastructure is also subsidized.

In addition, there are tax advantages for research-based companies, funds for the expansion of mobile networks and social housing.
