The government of the United Republic of the Comoros has launched projects to support the electric power sector, which were funded by the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, with a value of 51 million dirhams, equivalent to (13.9 million US dollars). The projects aim to raise the efficiency of electric power production in the country and modernize the electricity transmission network through the supply and installation of generators A new generation capacity of 12.5 megawatts, and rehabilitation of the existing distribution networks to achieve sustainable development in the sector.

The electricity projects were inaugurated in the presence of the President of the United Republic of the Comoros, Ghazali Othmani, the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the United Republic of the Comoros, Saeed Mohammed bin Murshid al-Muqbali, and a number of officials in the Comorian government.

The Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Mohammed Saif Al-Suwaidi, said: "We are working in (the Fund) to strengthen our strategic relations with the United Comoros government, through our joint cooperation in many areas, aimed at achieving sustainable development in all economic sectors, to support the comprehensive development process in the region. country.”

He added that the Fund's contribution to financing energy projects comes as part of its objectives aimed at supporting energy production in developing countries and providing sufficient supplies of electricity to reach various regions to improve basic services provided to the population.

He pointed out that the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development financed development projects worth 436 million dirhams, to support many vital sectors with a sustainable development and economic impact in the Republic of the Comoros, as these projects covered various sectors such as energy, education, health, water, transportation and other important strategic projects that contributed to improving infrastructure facilities infrastructure in the country and worked to stimulate economic growth.
