part of the seafood noodle soup exported to Europe by Nongshim, the No. 1 company in the ramen industry, was recalled because carcinogens were detected more than 100 times the standard. Nongshim said it cannot test products produced during the same period and distributed in Korea because there are no samples left.

Among the products exported to Europe by Nongshim, the recall target covers all 'Haemultangmyeon' products produced in January and March of this year.

2,600 boxes containing 20 pieces per box.

Ethylene oxide, a class 1 carcinogen used for sterilization and disinfection, was detected at 7.4ppm and 5ppm, respectively, which is 148 times higher than the EU standard.

The European Union's Food Feed Rapid Alert System has notified European countries on the 6th to stop selling products produced on that date and implement a recall.

Nongshim said that there is no problem with production other than the product on that date, and is currently identifying the path through which ethylene oxide was introduced into the product.

[Nongshim official: (Ramen) Because there are a lot of agricultural products. I am analyzing all the raw materials at that time. It seems that it will take some time to determine the cause.] The

problem is that the product may have been distributed in Korea as well.

[Seohyun Yoon / Mok-dong, Seoul: I heard that such a toxic substance came out. What I ate a little while ago is a little unsatisfying, and I am a little worried about what I will eat in the future.]

Nongshim's position is that there is no problem because it was produced at the Busan plant for overseas export and at other plants such as Anyang Anseong for domestic use.

[Nongshim official: (For domestic use) There are no samples (I couldn't test it.) (6 months) The expiration date has passed and it is not left in the factory. (Isn't the sample available? If you just try to get it?) If you say so, I can't help it.] He

replied that he did not know about the possibility that the same material was used for export and domestic use.
