On August 10, the China Consumers Association issued a consumer warning to consumers from the National Quality Inspection Center for Light Electric Vehicles and Battery Products. Electric bicycles burst into flames and explosions frequently, reminding consumers to pay more attention when buying and using them.

In recent years, electric bicycles have increasingly become an important means of transportation for consumers in short and medium-distance travel.

The data disclosed by the China Bicycle Association shows that the annual sales of electric bicycles in my country exceed 30 million, and the social ownership is close to 300 million.

But at the same time, fire and explosion accidents of electric bicycles have also occurred frequently.

From the point of view of fire sites, residential houses, self-built houses and stores along the street are the places where electric vehicle fires are high.

From the point of view of the cause of the fire, electrical failure and spontaneous combustion are the main causes of electric vehicle fires, accounting for 62.1% and 23.5% of the total number of electric vehicle fires respectively; overcharging, battery cell failure, and electrical circuit short-circuit are the causes of electric vehicle electrical fires. root cause.

Judging from the month of occurrence, the electric vehicle fires have an obvious trend of increasing month by month as the temperature rises. There were 1,215 in June, an increase of 56% compared to January.

According to the analysis conducted by the National Quality Inspection Center for Light Electric Vehicles and Battery Products, safety accidents related to electric bicycles mainly present the following characteristics: First, there were more traffic accidents in the past, but now there are more fire accidents; second, vehicle modification caused accidents Key behavior; third, batteries and chargers are important sources of accidents.

In response, the China Consumers Association and the National Quality Inspection Center for Light Electric Vehicles and Battery Products issued the following consumer warnings to consumers:

Be sure to buy from a regular operator.

When purchasing, you should also carefully check whether it has compulsory product certification (CCC certification), and whether the relevant component parameters are consistent with the indications on the certificate (such as battery type, capacity, model, etc.).

Stay away from the "three noes" or non-standard or over-standard electric bicycles.

Use the original charger to charge properly.

The original charger is compatible with the charging protection function of the battery, but other chargers lack this protection, and the battery may be damaged during the charging process and increase safety risks.

In addition, when charging, one must pay attention to avoid overcharging.

Second, pay attention to standard wiring.

Third, pay attention to the charging environment.

If the temperature is high in summer, the battery of an electric bicycle that has just been used will be relatively hot. Do not charge it immediately at this time.

When charging, place the charger in a place where it is easy to dissipate heat, and check the charging situation at any time, try not to charge during sleep at night.

Never modify an electric bicycle illegally.

If the e-bike battery has passed the expiration date or needs to be replaced during the expiration date, try to replace the same type of battery product to avoid accidents caused by battery mismatch.

Choose a uniformly configured charging and parking location.

Do not park or charge electric bicycles in public halls, evacuation walkways, stairwells, and safety exits of high-rise civil buildings.

The China Consumers Association and the National Quality Inspection Center for Light Electric Vehicles and Battery Products also reminded consumers to enhance their safety awareness, conduct frequent inspections, and maintain them frequently.

At the same time, if consumers encounter problems, they can also report to the market supervision department through the 12315 hotline or information platform to protect their legitimate rights and interests.
