Contrary to original plans, Tesla will probably not bring out its eagerly anticipated “Cybertruck” this year.

On the website of the electric car manufacturer, it is now said that after reserving the futuristic pick-up van, customers could specify the exact configuration "when production approaches in 2022".

Vehicle can be pre-ordered for a $ 100 refundable deposit.

Tesla already presented the Cybertruck in autumn 2019 and said at the time that production should start at the end of 2021.

The company officially stuck to this date until the end, but it has already become apparent that there could be delays.

The truck also comes later

With regard to the Cybertruck, CEO Elon Musk said in January: "If we're lucky, we can deliver a few copies towards the end of the year, but I expect larger numbers to be produced in 2022."

Even when the latest quarterly figures were presented in July, a Tesla manager indicated that the Cybertruck will be a bit long in coming.

Delays are not uncommon for Tesla.

The Model 3, for example, came onto the market much later than originally thought.

The company recently announced that its first truck would not arrive until 2022 instead of this year. The vehicle with the name "Semi" was presented in 2017, at that time the start of production was announced in 2019.
