The group subsidiary DHL discontinues its parcel drone development project “Parcelcopter”.
"We are not continuing the package copter project," said a DHL spokesman for "Welt am Sonntag".
DHL will also not continue a joint project with the Federal Development Ministry to send medicines to Tanzania.
Although important insights have been gained, regular operation is no longer intended.
Neither are planning new pilot projects nor further developing their own drones.
Swiss Post presented the parcel drone for deliveries over difficult terrain and over water in 2013, including in the Bavarian Alps and between the North Sea island of Juist and the mainland.
