Yesterday, the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development signed an agreement with the Guinean government to finance a project to develop intersections and main roads in the capital, Conakry, at a value of 95.5 million dirhams, equivalent to (26 million dollars). The project aims to develop the infrastructure of the road network within the city of Conakry to achieve sustainable development.

The project, which consists of constructing overhead intersections, roundabouts, and tunnels, in addition to rehabilitating two roads, will facilitate traffic and transport passengers to and from different areas of the Guinean capital, as well as linking the city center with other urban areas.

The agreement was signed by the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Mohammed Saif Al-Suwaidi, and on behalf of the Guinean government, the Minister of Economy and Finance of Guinea, Mamadi Camara, and the signing was attended by the Deputy Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development, Khalifa Abdullah Al Qubaisi.

Mohammed Saif Al-Suwaidi said: "The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and Guinea have had a close relationship and strategic partnership since 1977, where the Fund contributed to financing several strategic projects in vital sectors, such as energy, agriculture, transportation and communications that contributed to achieving sustainable development in the country."

He pointed out that the project to develop new intersections and roads in the heart of the Guinean capital Conakry represents an important catalyst in the process of economic and social development that Guinea is working to implement.

It also works to improve the quality of life for residents in the city, and supports local projects and makes them accessible, especially since Conakry is the largest city in Guinea and the main business center in it. It also includes the largest port in Guinea, and its most prominent maritime destination for the development of the industrial sector.
