This June, households with two or more people spent 5.1% below the same month last year, the first decline in four months.

In the same month last year, the amount of consumption was relatively large due to the effect of the uniform benefit of 100,000 yen, which was a reaction.

According to a household survey by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the amount of money spent by two or more households in June was 260,285 yen per household.

It was 5.1% lower than the same month last year, excluding price fluctuations, the first decrease in four months.

This is because the amount of consumption was relatively large in June of last year due to the effect of the uniform benefit of 100,000 yen, and this is because the consumption of home appliances such as air conditioners and washing machines decreased as a reaction.

However, compared to June, before the spread of the new coronavirus,

▽ drinking charges decreased significantly by 86.2%,

▽ accommodation charges 60.6%,

▽ railroad fare 58.4%, and

more.

▽ Women's clothing

decreased to

45.6%

across

the

board, highlighting the slump in consumption.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, "The effects of the spread of infections, such as requests for shorter working hours for restaurants, are still continuing. We would like to pay close attention to how much the rapid spread of infections will affect consumption in the future."
