Produced since 1963, the Porsche 911 has seen an incredible number of versions throughout its career. However, R is by far the rarest. Around twenty produced in 1967 and 1968, the 911R is a lightened and optimized version of the 911S. With a featherweight of 816 kg and a 2-liter engine whose power has been increased to 210 hp, this very sharp car wanted by Ferdinand Piëch (who would become Volkswagen's boss many years later) was intended for competition. . Stripped to the extreme and fitted with fiberglass panels, this singular Porsche was at the time considered a prototype. Having become the rarest 911 on the collection market, the R is the object of all envy. RM Sotheby's will offer chassis 11899006R for sale on August 14th. Sold new in France in 1967,it took part in many rallies before being partially dismantled and its engine sold to another collector. Originally restored thanks to its parts which were recovered, it will be on sale at a price of 4.5 million dollars (3.8 million euros). And that's not all: according to the experts, it could well fly to new heights!
