China News Service, Yichang, August 2 (Reporter Guo Xiaoying) The Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridge, the 9th Yangtze River Bridge in Yichang, Hubei, where the Three Gorges Project is located, was opened to traffic at 9 o'clock on August 2.

The bridge is one of the 19 river-crossing passages in Hubei Province in the "Planning for the Comprehensive Three-dimensional Transportation Corridor of the Yangtze River Economic Belt", which is of great significance to the construction and improvement of the comprehensive transportation system of the Three Gorges.

Yichang is located at the boundary between the middle and upper reaches of the Yangtze River, where the Three Gorges Project and the Gezhouba Project are located.

The main stream of the Yangtze River flows through Yichang for 232 kilometers, accounting for nearly a quarter of the total coastline length of the main stream of the Yangtze River in Hubei Province.

The Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridge is located 15 kilometers downstream of Gezhouba, with a total length of 2813 meters and a bridge width of 31.5 meters. It is designed with 6 two-way lanes and the main line is designed at a speed of 80 kilometers per hour. The total investment is 2.8 billion yuan.

The bridge is connected with the Three Gorges Dam Expressway. Its completion and opening to traffic will help to divert the rapid passenger traffic of Yichang East Station. It will closely connect the Yichang railway hub, logistics park, and port to achieve "zero transfer" of passenger transportation and "no transfer" of freight. "Seam butt joint" is of great significance to better play the role of Yichang's national regional comprehensive transportation hub.

Over the years, Yichang City has accelerated the advancement of infrastructure interconnection, built a complete multimodal transportation system, and realized efficient intermodal transportation to ease the navigation pressure of the Three Gorges Ship Lock.

In the six months since February this year, three Yangtze River bridges in Yidu, Wuhan Qingshan, and Wujiagang have been completed and opened to traffic in Hubei. Among them, Yidu Yangtze River Bridge and Wujiagang Yangtze River Bridge are both in Yichang City.

Up to now, the Yichang section of the Yangtze River has stretched from the Bingshu Baojian Gorge upstream of the Three Gorges Dam to the Qixingtai Waters of the Zhijiang River downstream of the Gezhouba Dam. There are Zigui Yangtze River Bridge, Xiling Yangtze River Bridge, Zhixi Yangtze River Bridge, Yiling Yangtze River Bridge, and Yichang Railway Yangtze River Bridge. The number of Yangtze River bridges in the region ranks first among prefecture-level cities along the Yangtze River.

With the cross-river bridge connecting the north and the south, the economic linkage on both sides of the Yangtze River in Yichang has been continuously strengthened, the Three Gorges dam transshipment will be more smooth and convenient, and the integration of resources will be more high-quality and efficient.
