After a complicated 2020, freight traffic at the port of Marseille-Fos picked up again in the first half of 2021, but not that of passengers, still "very affected" by the health situation.
In total from January to June, the infrastructure handled 38 million tonnes of cargo (+ 13%), according to its half-year results released Thursday.
It was solid bulk (+ 32%) that particularly drove port traffic, with a particularly spectacular recovery for the steel industry (+ 46%).

The turnover of the Mediterranean port fell in 2020 for the first time since 2013 (-14% to 145 million euros).
Haropa port, the new establishment which brings together the ports of Le Havre, Rouen and Paris, has also seen its maritime traffic increase but less dynamically (+ 6.5% to 40 million tonnes).
Its river traffic increased by 14% in the first half of the year, he announced in a press release on July 20.
