It is specified that Merkel informed Putin about the results of the discussion of the situation around the gas pipeline during the recent talks with US President Joe Biden in Washington.

In response to this, the Russian leader made appropriate comments.

"As a separate topic, the President of Russia and the Federal Chancellor of Germany touched upon the possibility of extending the agreement between Gazprom and Naftogaz of Ukraine on the transportation of gas through the Ukrainian territory after 2024," the message added.

Earlier, US Undersecretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland said that the United States had reached an agreement with Germany on Nord Stream 2.
