Coca-Cola announced on Tuesday the future change in the recipe for one of these flagship products: Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, the American version of Coca Zero.

The new version will be launched in the United States before the end of the month.

The composition is not the only novelty to come since the soda will also change its look and be offered in all-red cans, reports CNN Business.

The dressing was previously black and red.

The American agribusiness giant explained that the goal of the approach was to see Coca-Cola Zero Sugar attract more consumers.

The company therefore wanted to change the taste of this sugar-free version of Coca-Cola to more closely resemble that of the original soda.

The latter had been described as "iconic" in April by James Quincey, the CEO of the brand.

A new "more refreshing and delicious" recipe

The executive was speaking at a conference call about the company's first quarter 2021 results.

“The improvement in the recipe […] was influenced by consumer feedback and our ongoing efforts to improve,” explained James Quincey.

After its launch in the United States, the revised recipe will be marketed in Canada in September.

It has already appeared in a few European countries, with mixed reactions.

Coca-Cola did not say whether the changes to the product sold in the United States would be the same, only promising a new "more refreshing and delicious" American recipe.

The formula and packaging were presented to testers who appreciated them, assured Rafael Prandini, brand manager for North America.

Sales of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar increased in volume by 4% in 2020 and 8% in the first quarter of 2021. James Quincey, however, estimated that this product represented only "a relatively small percentage" of the total. whole brand.
