Al-Fahim told «Emirates Today», that he insisted on retaining all employees working in the project’s branches and not dispensing with any of them, despite the lack of any income for the project, especially during the closure period in light of the precautionary measures to combat “Corona”.

He indicated that he will start an expansion plan for the project during the coming period, which includes presence in a number of Gulf Cooperation Council countries, after the plan was postponed due to the pandemic conditions.

"Shot Cafe"

In detail, the Emirati entrepreneur, Ahmed Mohammed Al-Fahim, the owner of the "Shot Cafe" project, said that his project provides coffee and snacks with the mobile cart system and in shops, whether in commercial centers or in the licensed places for mobile food carts.

Al-Fahim added to "Emirates Today" that the idea of establishing the project came to him from working in the field of events, as he found that there is a great demand for mobile vehicles, which were not widely spread five years ago.

finance

Al-Fahim stated that he submitted a request, accompanied by a feasibility study for the project, to the Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development during 2017 in order to obtain a loan to start the project, noting that the fund agreed within a short period of time to finance.

He explained that he bought the first mobile car from London, while traveling to the British capital for a vacation, and then shipped it to the UAE.

Challenges

Al-Fahim stated that working in this field is interesting and profitable, but it is full of challenges in general, whether during the period preceding the “Corona” pandemic or during the pandemic period.

And he indicated that one of the most prominent challenges before the pandemic is the lack of licensed places for mobile food carts, and the association of mobile carts with activity in holding events, conferences and exhibitions, and therefore work is seasonal.

He added: “It is possible that there are opportunities to work one or two days a week, and the rest of the week there is no work, and participation in events is not always profitable, as participation in some activities is weak in terms of number, and therefore we do not make any profit despite paying for Financially, to allow the food cart to be present at the event, which always requires preparation, conducting market studies, and reviewing the history of holding events and the extent of demand for them if they were held previously.

biggest challenge

Al-Fahim pointed out that the pandemic period posed the biggest challenge to his project, describing the pandemic period, especially last year, as the most difficult period he faced during his working life, especially after the closing of commercial centers and preventing the operation of food carts.

But he stressed that he insisted on retaining all the employees working in the seven branches of the project, and not dismissing any of them despite the absence of any income for the project in that period.

Al-Fahim said that he succeeded in going through the difficult period despite the crisis, pointing out that the employees joined hands with the management to solve the problems facing the project during the “Corona” period.

expansion

Al-Fahim stated that he will start implementing a large expansion and development plan for the project during the coming period, which includes presence in a number of Gulf Cooperation Council countries, after the plan was postponed during the last period due to pandemic conditions, and the difficulty of traveling to complete the establishment procedures and attract workers, and others.

Tips

The Emirati entrepreneur, Ahmed Al Fahim, advised entrepreneurs to keep a cash reserve to use in times of crises and emergencies, so that the project becomes more capable of facing emergency conditions, and to continue to work despite challenges, until things return to normal, and the project returns to work with the same previous energy before the crisis.

Al Fahim also advised entrepreneurs to invest in employees, not only in normal times, but even in the most difficult circumstances, by training them, developing their talents, encouraging them to work, and strengthening relations between management and them, because they are an essential part of the project’s success and maintaining its strength and continuity despite difficult circumstances.
