On the evening of July 7, the "Always Follow the Party" model worker group walked into the construction site and the half-opening ceremony of the Xiamen Bridge opened on the new bridge deck of the Xiamen Bridge.
Ni Chao, member of the Standing Committee of the Xiamen Municipal Party Committee and chairman of the Municipal Federation of Trade Unions, and Gu Shiping, secretary of the Party Committee and executive director of the Xiamen Branch of the China Communications First Public Bureau Group, attended the event together with representatives of model workers and the builders of the Xiamen Bridge reconstruction and reinforcement project.
At 0:00 on July 8, the reconstruction and reinforcement project of the Xiamen Bridge will open to traffic on the western half and complete the east-west traffic conversion. The direction of departure from the island will be increased from the original two lanes to three lanes, which will effectively alleviate the pressure on vehicles leaving the island.
The Xiamen Bridge is expected to be fully open to traffic in January 2022.
