<Anchor> This is a

friendly economic time. Today (30th) I will be with reporter Kim Hye-min. If you spend a lot of credit and debit cards, will the government implement a policy that gives you cash back?

<Reporter>

I've been using a lot of credit cards lately, so I'm trying to reduce it a bit, but I'm worried.

Not long ago, the government announced that it would start a 'credit card cashback' system in the second half of this year to stimulate consumption.

Some of you may have already seen it through the article, but I will explain it in more detail.

Just because it starts in the second half of the year, it doesn't apply immediately from tomorrow, it starts in August.

If the amount of credit and debit card usage from August to October increased by '3%' or more from the average monthly amount from April to June, up to 10% of the excess amount is refunded.

It is said to be implemented for three months first, and then to consider whether to extend it or not. In addition, all credit card usage is applicable except for corporate cards.

There is a limit on how much cashback can be paid to each individual, and it runs for 3 months. 100,000 won per month for a total of 300,000 won.

<Anchor>

I think we've shared this news before, but we didn't have time to look into the details, so I was curious, but I think it's good to let them know. But even after hearing the explanation, I honestly don't know how much I have to spend on this to get my money back.Could you please explain in a little more detail?

<Reporter>

Let me explain with an example. If I used my credit card from April to June on average, I spent 1 million won. And let's say you spent 1.73 million won on your credit card in August.

I mentioned that you will receive cash back from an amount that exceeds 3% of the monthly average in the second quarter. If you calculate this first, the excess of 3% of the 1 million won is 1.03 million won.

If you subtract this from 1.73 million won, you have 700,000 won left. You can get 10% of the 700,000 won, or 70,000 won as cashback.

However, just because you use it at any store does not mean that all of it is recognized as the amount used.

The amount paid for at department stores, large marts, online shopping malls, luxury specialty stores, and entertainment establishments and vehicle purchases are excluded.

This will be deducted from your average card spend in April-June and your card spend in August-October.

The government explained that it was to revive small business owners and alleyways.

<Anchor> That's

right. After listening to the explanation, I think I understand it little by little. But one more thing I'm curious about is that I don't have to calculate all of these things, how much did I spend from April to June? However, I don't think it will be easy for each person to calculate them all.

<Reporter>

I told you. You have to take out the ones you use in online shopping malls and hypermarkets. Therefore, it is difficult to calculate them individually. Also, there are many people who use multiple cards.

Therefore, a computer system that can check the total amount of multiple cards a person has must be prepared first.

In the meantime, other policies such as dining out cashback and disaster assistance have also been quickly developed by credit card companies.

It is said that this time, the government will start a task force dedicated to all credit card companies to calculate the usage performance in the second quarter.

This should be done by at least August before people can analyze their spending and decide whether to increase their spending after that.

In addition, it is said that specific plans will be confirmed and announced in the future, such as the cashback points paid by the government and how to use them. Then I will explain in detail how to do it again.

<Anchor>

Please explain in detail once more when you come out. But seeing this makes me think. You have to spend a lot of money to get your cashback back, in the end. So I think there are some people here who are a little dissatisfied.

<Reporter>

That's right. In order to get a refund of up to 100,000 won, if you used to spend 1 million won a month, you have to spend 2.03 million won, which is more than double. Therefore, concerns are already emerging that support will flow to the high-income group rather than the low-income group.

Also, people who spend a lot in the second quarter like me find it difficult to spend more in the third quarter. If you didn't spend a lot of money in Q2, you'll have a little more room in Q3. These contingent factors can lead to profit distortions.

And there is also a controversy about where it is used. Since online shopping malls and hypermarkets are excluded from the usage, most of the money used in restaurants or stores near the house will be included. I am using

We don't know yet how many people will give up on this and use the card for cashback. Finally, this is a different policy, so I'll introduce it in case anyone misses it.

The government's food service discount support event will end on July 4th. Check your payment performance. If you have paid 3 times, please fill it out again and get a refund of 10,000 won.

If the event is restarted later, the remaining performance of the previous participation will be recognized as it is.
