The premium granted by the State to buyers of a new electric car is currently 7,000 euros but it will increase to 6,000 euros on Thursday, July 1.

Its amount will decrease again by 1,000 euros in 2022, recalls BFM TV.

The bonus was increased in May 2020 as part of the government support plan for the automobile, a sector particularly affected by the health and economic crisis linked to the coronavirus.

The aid for the purchase of a used electric car implemented in December 2020 remains the same.

It amounts to 1,000 euros.

A capped bonus

The amount of the ecological boost for new models has a ceiling that must not be exceeded.

It is granted to all eligible vehicle buyers, regardless of income levels.

On the other hand, the proposed sum cannot exceed 27% of the price of the car concerned.

Other conditions relating to the value of the model chosen by the purchaser also apply.

For vehicles costing between 45,000 and 60,000 euros, the maximum amount of the bonus will be set at 2,000 euros from July 1, instead of 3,000 euros previously.

Thousand euros for hybrid vehicles

Aid for the acquisition of other types of 100% electric vehicles will not be reduced.

This is for example the case of bicycles, motorized two-wheelers or quadricycles.

Hybrid-powered cars will also continue to receive a financial boost.

However, its amount will drop on July 1, from 2,000 to 1,000 euros.

In all cases, "the bonus is deducted from the price of the vehicle by the dealer or refunded after the purchase of the vehicle if you request it," said the government on the Service-Public site.
