With a single electric model (the MX-30) and mild hybridization, Mazda is not as advanced as many competitors in the race for electrification.
However, the manufacturer has just announced the change with the upcoming arrival of 5 hybrids and 5 plug-in hybrids.
Mazda will also market 3 new 100% electric vehicles.
A new platform (called Skyactiv EV Scalable Architecture) will also be used for zero-emission models, which will be launched from 2025. The Japanese firm is not, however, considering abandoning thermal engines, and will therefore continue to focus on its Skyactiv technology .
In addition, Mazda has joined the eFuel Alliance, a group active in the development of carbon neutral synthetic fuels, aimed at extending the life of combustion engines.
