Dubai Airports has announced that it will reopen Terminal 1 and Concourse D at Dubai International Airport, starting from June 24, after it had previously decided to close facilities on March 25, 2020, after the partial suspension of operations at Dubai International Airport, as part of A strategy to control the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of Dubai Airports, welcomed the reopening of Terminal 1, as an important step in preparing to accommodate the expected growth in the return of travel in the coming weeks and months.

His Highness said that the aviation sector in Dubai was our top priority, as part of a global campaign to restore vital air services, and to open travel corridors that do not require quarantine between the UAE and multiple countries around the world.

His Highness continued: "This step indicates optimism for the rest of the year and beyond, as well as being a clear indication of Dubai's plan to lead the aviation industry, to enable the social and economic recovery of the world, and the reopening is a collaborative effort of many strategic partners in operating the busiest airport in the world." His Highness stated that the reopening of Terminal (1) will allow the gradual return of more than 40 international airlines to its headquarters, which are currently operating their flights in Terminals 2 and 3.

It is noteworthy that Concourse D was inaugurated in February 2016, and is connected to Terminal 1 by the airport train. The two facilities provide world-class services with an annual capacity of 18 million passengers.
