Especially since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the textile industry has thoroughly implemented the new development concept, down-to-earth, pioneered and innovated, and achieved historic breakthroughs.
Sun Ruizhe, chairman of the China National Textile and Apparel Council, stated that the "14th Five-Year Plan" period is a period of strategic opportunities for China to promote the comprehensive construction of a modern socialist country under the unprecedented changes in the world. Continuously meet the needs of the people
After the founding of New China, China's textile industry ushered in a new period of development.
From the establishment of the “five new textile bases” in Shijiazhuang, Handan, Zhengzhou, Xi’an, and Beijing in the 1950s, as well as the Jingwei Textile Machinery Factory and Zhengzhou Textile Machinery Factory, to the 4 synthetic fiber factories built in the 1970s, including the Liaoyang Petrochemical Company, my country’s basic A relatively independent and complete textile industry system has been formed.
These major projects under the national system have laid the foundation for my country's modern textile industry system.
In the 1990s, private textile and garment enterprises rose rapidly, and a large number of outstanding enterprises such as Youngor and Shanshan emerged, and industrial clusters and professional markets began to develop rapidly.
The textile industry has always adhered to the value orientation of people first and played an important role in creating a high-quality life.
In 1983, marked by the cancellation of the cloth ticket, the Chinese textile industry took the lead in bidding farewell to the "shortage economy" and became the earliest and best solution to the people's livelihood problem.
In 2000, my country's total fiber processing amounted to 13.6 million tons, accounting for 25% of the global share; per capita fiber consumption rose from 2.9 kg in 1978 to 8.2 kg, basically meeting domestic consumption needs.
At a per capita GDP of 10,000 US dollars, my country's fiber consumption has reached the level of a moderately developed country ahead of the level of economic development.
In the fight against the new crown pneumonia epidemic, the textile industry has effectively guaranteed the people's life, health and safety by relying on sound industrial supporting facilities, an efficient organization and mobilization system, and strong industrial transformation capabilities.
The textile industry has effectively met the increasing demand for personalized, multi-level products and services of the people by increasing varieties, improving quality, and creating brands.
A fashion trend collaborative research and release mechanism covering all links of the industry chain has been formed. The originality of fashion design has improved significantly. Product development has accelerated its development towards functionality, green, and intelligence. The recognition, reputation and influence of Chinese brands continue to increase. About 85% of the clothing and home textile brands of major domestic large-scale commercial entities are independent brands, and the consumption of original trend brands has accounted for more than 15% of brand consumption.
As an important employment carrier, the textile industry has achieved remarkable results in stabilizing employment.
The employment population of the whole industry exceeded 20 million at one time.
The development of the industry directly benefits the "agriculture, rural areas, and farmers", providing suitable and promising jobs for rural migrant workers.
In addition, the direction of the textile industry's gradient transfer is highly unified with the needs of regional coordinated development, and it has made a constructive contribution to resolving the regional, urban and rural gaps.
Currently, 34 of the 36 textile industry transfer pilot parks across the country are located in the central and western regions.
The industrial transfer of the industry has effectively contributed to targeted poverty alleviation. At this year's National Poverty Alleviation Summary and Commendation Conference, 16 individuals and 4 collectives in the textile industry won honors.
The textile industry closely follows the needs of social development, continuously consolidates manufacturing advantages, improves basic capabilities and modernization of the industrial chain. Adhere to the innovation-driven strategy
In the first half of this year, my country's textile industry developed steadily and achieved a good start.
From January to April this year, the operating income of textile enterprises above designated size nationwide was 1468.75 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 22.6%; the total profit was 66.76 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 71.8%.
The value creation of the industry has returned to the level before the epidemic, and the development foundation has been further consolidated.
The strong resilience and vitality shown by the textile industry benefited from the long-term insistence on innovation.
Hua Shan, director of the Industry Department of the China National Textile and Apparel Council and executive vice president of the Institute of Industrial Economics, said that for many years, the textile industry has placed innovation at the core of the overall development, and the strength of industrial science and technology is moving from quantitative accumulation to qualitative leap. Textile companies continue to consolidate their position as the main innovation player in the industry, and an innovative ecology of in-depth integration of industry, university, research and application has taken shape.
In 2019, the R&D investment intensity of textile enterprises above designated size exceeded 1%, an increase of 0.4% over 2015. Among them, the R&D investment intensity of the chemical fiber industry reached 1.4%, an increase of 0.3% over 2015.
In 2020, my country will basically achieve the main indicators of a textile powerhouse.
According to the comparative analysis of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2019 and 2020, my country has five major industries at the world's advanced level, and the textile industry is one of them.
The sign of the strengthening of the textile industry is the realization of the transformation from Chinese manufacturing to Chinese creation, the transformation of Chinese speed to Chinese quality, and the transformation of Chinese products to Chinese brands.
Expand the pattern of opening up

During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, Chinese textile companies invested more than US$1.8 billion in the five Mekong countries, accounting for about 26.6% of the total global investment in the same period.
At the same time, the textile industry has also played an important role in promoting sustainable development.
The green manufacturing system of the textile industry has been initially established, the energy consumption structure has been continuously optimized, the resource utilization level has been steadily improved, the ecological safety of products has generally been enhanced, and the supply capacity of recycled chemical fibers has been significantly improved.
The dimensions and connotation of social responsibility continue to expand. The Chinese Textile and Apparel Corporate Social Responsibility Management System (CSC9000T) has been deeply promoted throughout the industry and has begun to cover factories invested by domestic companies overseas.
But taking care of the path, the green and green are horizontal.
