It is no exaggeration to say that corruption kills in Iraq.

This Friday morning in the town of Amara, in the south of the country, armed attackers shot dead a captain in front of his home.

He was part of the anti-corruption body of the federal government and now counts as the second victim in just one month of attacks against those involved in this fight.

In addition to assassinations, attacks are frequent in Iraq against these personnel.

And for good reason, the country is one of the most corrupt in the world.

Since 2003, $ 450 billion has not reached state coffers, according to a parliamentary report.

Special commissions are regularly formed to try to stem this scourge, but their results are often limited.

The few big corrupt who arrive in the sights of the authorities often manage to leave the country or to manage, sometimes with the help of extreme methods, as observed today, not to be worried.
