Report methodology

For its methodology, the Global Competitiveness Yearbook report relies on questionnaires collected by one third and statistics and data provided by countries by two thirds.

In its classification of the countries covered by the report, the report is based on four main axes, including (economic performance, government efficiency, business efficiency, and infrastructure), under which 20 sub-axes fall, covering 335 competitive indicators in various economic, financial, legislative, administrative and social fields.

Distinguished Leaps

The UAE recorded distinct leaps in the Global Competitiveness Yearbook 2021 report, compared to last year, in many indicators, as it rose to the first place globally in the growth index of commercial services exports, achieving a jump of 28 ranks from the 2020 report, and ranked first in the index Balance trade, a jump of 15 places.

In the index of resilience and ability to adapt to global changes, the country came fourth in the world, advancing by seven ranks.

The country also achieved fourth place in corporate resilience, advancing two ranks from the 2020 report, and jumping in the number of Internet users by 26 ranks, to be ranked ninth globally.
