Yesterday, the consensus body discussed the issue of lowering the working hours of delivery drivers, who were forced to overwork an average of more than 80 hours a week, to 60 hours a week.

The courier union demanded to compensate for the reduced wages as the working hours decreased, but the industry responded that it was unacceptable.

It is reported that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has proposed a plan for courier companies to use courier sorting personnel or additional costs from September.

Today, as negotiations are underway over the level of the delivery cost increase, the union and industry are expected to clash with each other.

Earlier, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport proposed a 170 won increase in courier charges.

The union has demanded a larger increase, saying that the rate of increase in the wages of couriers is insignificant in reality because of the 'white margin' taken by shippers.

About 4,000 workers from the courier union went on an indefinite strike for the eighth day after the agreement broke down and took part in a sit-down at Yeouido Park in Seoul.
