China was the only major economy to grow in 2020.

By 2.3 percent.

Germany (minus 5), Europe (-6), USA (-3.5) and the world as a whole (-3.3) have shrunk economically.

A trend of recent years is thus continuing: China is becoming more economically important.

And if you look at the exchange rates, you will quickly see that this will not leave the foreign exchange market unscathed.

A year ago, 7.20 Chinese yuan had to be paid for one dollar, now it is only 6.40 yuan.

The yuan is therefore becoming more valuable, also against the euro.

Anyone who considers this trend intact will find various opportunities to participate as an investor.

Indirectly by buying Chinese stocks and bonds.

Directly through financial products such as a certificate from the BNP Paribas bank, which can be traded on German stock exchanges under the identification number PZ2FBS.

If the yuan increases by one percent against the euro, the certificate gains 5 percent.

It works the other way around: If the yuan loses, the investor loses five times its value. Such leverage is quite common with currency products, as exchange rates fluctuate far less than stocks. Those who like it less risky can also find products with lever 2, and those who are braver can find products with lever 30.

It is also possible to buy yuan directly in cash from providers such as the Reisebank. Investors there currently get around 7 yuan for one euro, on the stock exchanges it would be 7.75 yuan, around ten percent more. When ordering online, the currency is usually delivered the next day by courier. The fee is 6.90 to 10.75 euros. However, even when returning the currency, a considerable discount must be taken into account, so that currency trading in cash is seldom financially lucrative. Possible gains from currency speculation are taxable.
