In Silwan, the el-Boustane district, the "garden" in Arabic, lives up to its name.

Narrow streets, an island of greenery, coveted by the mayor of Jerusalem.

On his way home, Fakhri Abu Diab, found a demolition notice: “

They didn't even put it in the mailbox.

They broke the glass of the door to put him inside.

Here, the whole neighborhood is threatened with demolition.

We are talking about 100 houses, that is to say 1,550 people.

The town hall claims that these houses were built without a permit.

But the truth is, most of these houses were built long before the Israeli occupation.

We didn't need a permit at the time.

 "

Destroy his own house

Born in this family home in 1962, Fakhri Abu Diab now has 21 days to destroy his home himself.

Otherwise he will have to pay double: demolition costs to the town hall, and a fine.

At home, he receives representatives of Ir Amim.

This Israeli NGO supports the Palestinians.

Aviv Tatarsky is its representative.

“

Since 1967, when Israel annexed East Jerusalem, the Israelis have denied the Palestinians the right to own their own land.

So, then it's easy to say: no they don't have proof of their ownership.

It was Israel that created this situation,

 ”emphasizes Aviv Tatarsky.
