The world's largest hydropower station under construction, the Baihetan Hydropower Station dam, began pouring in April 2017. After nearly 50 months of construction, the entire line was poured to the top, laying a solid foundation for the first batch of units to be put into operation before July 2021. .
The maximum dam height of Baihetan Hydropower Station is 289 meters. The dam body is equipped with 6 bottom diversion holes, 7 deep flood discharge holes and 6 surface flood discharge holes.
The total volume of the main concrete of the dam is 8 million cubic meters, and there has not been a temperature crack since the beginning of the pouring, which indicates that China has fully grasped the key technology of mass concrete temperature control and crack prevention.
Baihetan Hydropower Station is located on the main stream of the Jinsha River at the junction of Qiaojia County, Yunnan Province and Ningnan County, Sichuan Province. It has a total installed capacity of 16 million kilowatts. A total of 16 hydroelectric generating units with a single unit capacity of 1 million kilowatts are designed and installed. The hydropower units with the largest single unit capacity are all independently developed by my country.
