As decarbonization becomes a global trend, Panasonic has set a goal of reducing carbon dioxide emissions to virtually zero by 2030.

Panasonic CEO Yuki Kusumi, who will become president next month, held an online press conference on management policy on the 27th.

In this, the company as a whole announced a plan to reduce carbon dioxide emissions to virtually zero by 2030.

Specifically, we intend to achieve our goals by using renewable energy in our own factories and offices, thoroughly conserving energy, and utilizing emissions trading.

While many Japanese companies have set a target period of virtually zero emissions from 2040 to 2050, they have set a fairly early period.

At a press conference, CEO Kusumi stated, "We aim to be a leading company that will make a significant contribution to solving climate change problems," and expressed his willingness to realize it.

In addition, Panasonic will shift to a holding company system from April next year and divide its business into eight companies.

CEO Kusumi said, "The self-responsible management of the operating company will play a leading role. We will carry out management more speedily." He emphasized the idea of clarifying the management responsibility of each business and accelerating decision-making.
