The Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics confirmed that the UAE has made great leaps in its ranking within the global competitiveness indicators in the human resources, employment and work sector during 2020 compared to 2019, despite the many challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic has imposed on various countries of the world.

The center stated in new indicators recently issued, and "Emirates Today" obtained a copy of it, that the UAE has made a big leap in 16 indicators of competitiveness in the sector of human resources, employment, and work, to consolidate its position globally, one of the best countries to live and work, and to attract talent from different Nationalities, as it was able to maintain its first positions in the world, and its advanced centers among the countries of the world in many other indicators, in order to continue its progress towards the first positions in various fields of competitiveness.

The indicators are based on six major global competitiveness reports issued by documented international bodies: the Global Competitiveness Yearbook, the Well-being Index, the Global Talent Competitiveness Index, the Global Innovation Index, the Global Talent Report and the Digital Competitiveness Yearbook.

Man power

The center revealed that the UAE has jumped 54 places in the "Workforce Growth Index", to rank eighth in the world during 2020, instead of ranked 62 in the world in 2019, according to the Global Competitiveness Yearbook.

It also jumped 49 places in the "Employment Growth Index", to rank 12th globally instead of 61st globally in 2019, according to the same book.

The UAE also jumped 51 places in the “Higher Education Manpower Index”, to rank 24th globally in 2020 instead of 75th globally in 2019, according to the Global Talent Competitiveness Index, and 11 centers advanced in the proportion of employment in the government sector out of the total Employment in the country, to rank seventh in the world instead of 18th in the world in 2019, according to the Global Competitiveness Yearbook.

The Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics showed that the UAE advanced two places in the “Highly Skilled Foreigners Index”, ranking third in the world instead of the fifth in the world, according to three global reports: the Global Talent Report, the Yearbook of Global Competitiveness, and the Yearbook of Digital Competitiveness.

The country has also advanced two places in the "Availability of Skilled Workers Index", to be ranked eighth in the world instead of tenth in the year 2019, according to the “welfare index”.

Productivity and unemployment

According to the Global Competitiveness Yearbook, the UAE advanced one place in the "labor productivity index", ranking second in the world instead of third globally, according to the Global Competitiveness Yearbook. It also advanced one place in the "Labor Productivity Index", ranking 13 instead of 14th in the world according to For the "welfare index".

The country also advanced two places in the “Low Unemployment Index”, to rank fourth in the world in 2020, instead of sixth in the world in 2019, according to the Global Competitiveness Yearbook, and two places in the “Index of Senior Officials and Managers” to rank 21 instead of 23. The country jumped 38 places in the “Knowledge-Intensive Employment Index”, according to the “Global Innovation Index”, and advanced one place in each of: “The Index of Women in Administrative Positions,” and “The Percentage of Women in Boards of Directors,” according to the Competitiveness Yearbook. The country also maintained the first position in the world in the “State’s Capacity to Attract Talent Index” according to the “Welfare Index” and the “Migrant Number Index” according to the Global Talent Competitiveness Index.

And it kept the fifth place in the world in the "indicator of the number of paid workers", and the 11th in the world in the "compensation costs for the terminated worker", according to the welfare index.

Management Reward Index

The Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics stated that the UAE has jumped five places in the "management bonus index", which includes the basic salary, long and short-term incentives for management officials in companies that achieve sales of $ 250 million annually or more, to rank 15th in the world in 2020, instead of Ranked 20th globally in 2019, according to the Global Talent Report.
