Companies are working together to reduce plastic waste.

From the 25th, food manufacturers will start a new attempt to collect product containers and use them repeatedly using a mechanism devised by an American company.

Of these, six companies, including Lotte and P & G Japan, will start a business to collect product containers and reuse them from the 25th, using the mechanism created by the American startup company "Loop".

The container is made of stainless steel or glass and is durable. After collecting it in a special box installed in the store, the startup company cleans it, and the manufacturer puts the contents in and uses it repeatedly.

When the customer buys the product, he / she pays the contents and the deposit of the container, and when the container is returned, the deposit is returned.

First of all, we started business at 19 stores in Aeon's Tokyo, Kanagawa, and Chiba, and in the future, we are planning to increase the number of participating companies and also plan online shopping in the Kanto region.

In addition, daily necessities manufacturers Unilever and Kao have embarked on joint development of recycling technology to collect bottles of detergent and shampoo and remake them into new containers.

Responding to environmental problems has become an important management issue for companies, and it is expected that companies will further cooperate in reducing plastic waste.
