To support the reopening of restaurants, the State wishes to gradually stop financial aid to the sector.

If the amount of aid does not change in May, a new system will be put in place this summer.

The government hopes to stop aid next September.

To open or not to open this Wednesday, restaurateurs are asking themselves the question.

With a 50% gauge for "large" terraces and uncertain weather, many are wondering if the opening will be profitable.

In order to promote reopening as much as possible, the Ministry of the Economy announces that it will maintain aid to restaurateurs for the coming months.

Thus, if despite the opening of the terraces, some restaurants end the month of May with a turnover down 50% or more compared to before the crisis, the aids adopted when the restaurants were closed last October, apply.

Professionals then receive financial assistance of 10,000 euros or assistance equivalent to 20% of their turnover in 2019.

Support until September

The State intends to adopt a certain progressivity in stopping aid to professionals.

The government is considering setting up financial assistance from 10% loss of turnover for restaurateurs, but the amount will be less.

In June, the solidarity fund will cover 40% of the loss in turnover.

It will only be 30% in July and only 20% in August.

The government hopes to stop aid to restaurateurs next September, depending on the health situation. "We want this reopening to be a collective success," Economy Minister Bruno le Maire explained on Tuesday, who has already announced that there will be a review clause before the start of the school year. If the health situation does not improve, the minister confirms that the government will continue to help professionals.
