In order to promote fair competition in the mobile phone industry, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has decided to consider expanding the allocation of mobile phone numbers, which was previously limited to major companies, to cheap smartphone companies.

The country assigns mobile phone numbers to the four major mobile phone companies that maintain their own base stations, and cheap smartphone companies that do not have base stations pay the major companies the numbers.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has decided to consider revising the system at a meeting of experts because there is an opinion from the cheap smartphone company side about this that it is hindering competition with major companies.

Specifically, we will consider assigning numbers directly to cheap smartphone companies that can secure the quality of voice calls and emergency calls in the same way as major companies.

This aims to encourage competition by allowing cheap smartphone companies to freely set services and charges.

In addition, since the number to be assigned is expected to increase with the review of the system at the expert meeting, the policy is to consider when to assign a new number starting with "060" in addition to the current number starting with "090". , we have decided to conclude the prospect of the end of the year.
