Chinanews.com, Lanzhou, May 18 (Reporter Ding Si) "The types of goods carried by the China-Europe Express train were relatively single in the early days. In the past 10 years, it has continued to increase the types of goods." Ma Bin, associate researcher of the Institute of International Studies, Fudan University, was in Lanzhou on the 17th. Speaking of the changes in the development of China-Europe Express in the past ten years, "If you classify the added value of goods, you will find that China-Europe Express not only transports high-value-added products such as cars and laptops, but also attracts a lot of low-value-added and mass goods. ."

On the same day, the "Belt and Road Investment Risks and Control Series Report" hosted by the Belt and Road Research Center of Lanzhou University was released and an academic seminar was held in Lanzhou.

Ma Bin released the report "Ten Years of Development of China-Europe Railway Express: Achievements, Challenges and Prospects."

Ma Bin said that in the past 10 years, the development of China-Europe Express Express has shown the main characteristics of rapid growth, wide coverage, and multiple types of freight.

During this period, the categories of goods carried by the China-Europe Railway Express expanded to include electronic products, machinery and equipment, chemical products, wood pulp, clothing and footwear, grain, wine, coffee beans, cold food, medicine and medical equipment, and many other categories.

In August 2018, a special train loaded with 1,800 cubic meters of timber from Siberia, Russia to Lanzhou New District arrived at Zhongchuan North Station in Lanzhou New District.

At present, the China-Europe Express has opened nearly 70 routes, connecting China and the European Union, Russia, Central Asia, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and other five regions or countries, initially forming a relatively stable operation pattern, and jointly building the "Belt and Road" for China and countries along the route. "Provided strong support.

At home, most provinces across the country have opened the China-Europe Express; overseas, the China-Europe Express has reached different regions of Eurasia, including the European Union, Russia, Central Asia, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.

Over the past 10 years, China-Europe Express has continued to achieve a mutually beneficial and win-win "acceleration", helping countries along the route to deepen cooperation and interconnection.

While developing, it also faces many challenges and "growth troubles."

Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Poland and other countries along the China-Europe Railway Express have backward transportation infrastructure to varying degrees.

Ma Bin said that due to the aging, disrepair of overseas railways, and insufficient supporting facilities, the operation efficiency of the train has been greatly reduced. Insufficient infrastructure facilities in overseas sections have increasingly restricted the development of China-Europe trains in the past two years.

Ma Bin said that the development of China-Europe Express trains is about to enter the "post-subsidy era", and the short- and medium-term challenges it faces will become more prominent. Major breakthroughs need to be achieved in improving the efficiency of opening lines, strengthening operating standards, and building line reputation, so as to promote the development of the model. Change from government-led to market-led.

Ma Bin also analyzed that from the current international industrial adjustment situation, the development of China-Europe Railway Express is facing two types of industrial transfer opportunities: One is the opportunity for the transfer of industries from the eastern coastal areas of China to the western inland areas, which can be inland railway transportation. And exports provide a certain industrial foundation, which is conducive to supplementing the cargo of China-Europe Express; the other is the opportunity for Chinese industries to transfer to Southeast Asian countries, which will broaden the new direction of China-Europe Express.

Ma Bin suggested to build an international multimodal transport network supported by China-Europe trains, and promote the development of China-Europe trains to the “N+1+N” model on the basis of the “1+N” line network that has been formed so far. The domestic node cities of China-Europe Express trains with geographical advantages are developing from a domestic distribution center to an international logistics hub, and finally realize the development of China-Europe Express with the help of domestic and foreign joint efforts.
