High-speed Wi-Fi connection at the Expo 2020 Dubai site
Expo 2020 Dubai announced the start of the deployment of Cisco's advanced Wi-Fi networks to ensure fast and secure wireless connectivity throughout the site, on an area of 4.38 square kilometers.
The move comes as part of the commitment of Expo 2020 Dubai and its partners to deliver the strongest and most reliable digital connected event in the history of the World Expo.
With the advent of Expo 2020 Dubai, the Emirate of Dubai seeks to provide unique and attractive experiences, which will make Wi-Fi technology from Cisco a great necessity for visitors to keep abreast of the event and its developments and to maintain their communication with each other and their surroundings. Cisco's Wi-Fi will enable visitors to easily connect to a rich set of technical services that will enhance their experience, including: augmented reality content, interactive virtual reality, application services, location, barcode scanning and QR code. The network will also enhance upload and download speeds so that each visitor becomes an ambassador for the exhibition by sharing his experience with the world through audio and visual content in real time.

As the Expo 2020 Dubai digital network partner, Cisco deployed its Intent-based Network throughout the Expo site and was recently selected to manage and maintain IT network operations at the Expo. In addition to the widespread deployment of Cisco's Wi-Fi network, the advanced Wi-Fi 6 network was selected for use in specific regions, providing a continuous and reliable wireless network connection to easily support hardware requirements and IoT technology with security features to protect against cyber attacks and potential threats in high-end environments. More than 9,000 access points are now deployed across the exhibition site for comprehensive Wi-Fi coverage, allowing every user, wherever on site, to stay connected constantly.
About 400 of the access points Cisco deployed were designed specifically for Wi-Fi 6 connectivity. To date, nearly 70% of Wi-Fi 6 points have been completed with rigorous and repeated testing to collect and analyze data and improve network performance.

The company's technology also helps improve the efficiency of batteries for smartphones, personal computers, and IoT devices when compared to traditional Wi-Fi networks.
Wi-Fi 6 is WPA3 certified thanks to its ability to provide enhanced security for an open Wi-Fi network by encrypting unauthorized traffic, providing robust protection against electronic threats, and superior reliability for sensitive data.
