On Thursday, the highest German court in Karlsruhe ruled on several constitutional complaints from climate activists.
The plaintiffs from the Fridays for Future movement, including their front woman Luisa Neubauer, claim that their basic rights have been violated by an inadequate climate protection law.
If the complaints are successful, the federal government would probably have to tighten its climate policy measures and goals further.
