A technology company specializing in software research and development, when faced with competitive pressures and financial difficulties, actually thought of using the blockchain digital currency EOS coin to open an online casino to make huge profits.

Recently, the Public Security Bureau of Jianhu County, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province successfully cracked the nation’s first case of using blockchain contract technology to open a casino, arrested 25 criminal suspects and seized more than 1.3 million virtual coins worth more than RMB 26 million. .

The gambling application of the public chain of grapefruit coin

In October 2020, the Jianhu police received clues from the network security detachment of the Yancheng Public Security Bureau stating that there is a gambling application called "Biggame" on the public chain of Grapecoin that has been popular in the currency circle, and the transaction volume has long been higher than that of the public chain of Grapefruit. Top of the trading volume list.

After receiving the clue, the Jianhu police immediately set up a special work team to gather capable police forces such as cybersecurity, criminal investigation, and technical investigation.

During the initial investigation, the special class police analyzed up to 27 million transaction data and sorted out 26 contract addresses used for betting, drawing, and prize distribution in various games of the casino, and found a large number of them. Profitable funds flowed to 4 suspicious accounts.

Through the "sea quantification" analysis of the overall funds of the platform, the police initially clarified the organizational structure of the criminal gang, and the main criminals Xie, Liu, Hu and others have surfaced one after another.

Through investigative work, the Jianhu police accurately grasped the basic situation of the suspected criminal gang headed by Liu, and found out the gang’s hiding dens in Guangzhou, Shanghai, Anhui Chuzhou and other places.

The police handling the case conducted an in-depth investigation of the gang's organizational structure, basic personnel information, regular locations of activities, etc., and finally locked the casino platform members and activity areas headed by Liu one by one.

In view of the unfavorable factors such as the scattered residences of the criminal suspects of the gang and the difficulty of arrest, the Jianhu police formulated a thorough arrest plan and emergency response measures in advance.

In December 2020, the Jianhu police were divided into five groups. It took more than a month to arrest 14 suspects headed by Liu in Guangzhou, Shanghai, and Chuzhou, Anhui.

Find another "outlet" for poor management

In 2001, after graduating from a university, Hu went south to Guangzhou to start his own business and set up a network technology company from scratch to engage in network software research and development.

After several years of development, this company has gradually become a well-known company with 58 employees in the industry.

In March 2018, the company encountered funding difficulties.

Hu, who has always been flexible in his mind, asked technical personnel Liu and Wu to study blockchain contract technology and try to find some profitable projects.

In early June of that year, after the launch of Grapefruit Coin on the main blockchain network, Hu found that the online gambling software using Grapefruit Coin as a trading medium was the most profitable, and he decided to establish a "Biggame" gambling platform.

The investigation by the policeman who handled the case found that the company's first gambling game was called "Lotto", but the audience did not make much money after the game was launched.

Later, Hu thought that the main reason for the game’s unprofitability was that the product promotion was not in place, and he immediately found his university classmate Xie to be responsible for the promotion and operation, and agreed that they and Liu were the three shareholders of the project, of which Liu and Xie each accounted for 10% of the shares, Hu Mou holds 80% of the shares.

Under the auspices of Xie, the English version of the gambling platform interface was quickly launched.

He also recruited Li, an eighth-level English major, as the platform's translator and customer service.

The audience of the platform has expanded, and their profits have also increased substantially.

Hu, who tasted the sweetness, immediately organized and developed gambling games such as craps and red-black battle.

Soon, the "Biggame" gambling platform became popular in the currency circle, and the transaction volume gradually ranked first in the daily transaction volume of the grapefruit currency public chain.

Avoid blows and do only behind-the-scenes research and development

Police investigations found that Hu's team had been staying in Hong Kong for product development and platform maintenance, thinking that it would be able to evade legal sanctions.

During the review, the suspect Liu confessed to the crime of opening a virtual casino.

After investigation, from June 2018 to December 2020, Hu Mou was in need of working capital for the company he was operating, so he teamed up with Liu Mou and Xie Mou to organize 11 technicians including Yu Mou and Li Mou through blockchain contracts. Technology to set up online casinos, use virtual currency as a gambling medium to provide illegal gambling platforms for others to make profits from it. The transaction volume amounts to more than 420 million virtual currencies, valued at RMB 8 billion; illegal and criminal proceeds amount to 3.095 million virtual currencies , Worth more than 60 million yuan.

At present, more than 1.3 million existing stolen grapefruit coins and Bitcoin have been withdrawn.

Jianhu police also seized two sets of real estate involved in Hu's name, one car and one set of real estate involved in Liu's name.

During the review of the case, the Jianhu police analyzed back-end data and found that two digital currency exchanges in Shenzhen and Xiamen were providing Liu and others with promotion and drainage and fund settlement services, which were drawn from them, which was equivalent to more than 5.4 million yuan in total.

On January 15 this year, in the "Net Net 2021" special operation of the Ministry of Public Security, the Jianhu police once again carried out a centralized collection of the two criminal gangs suspected of providing conditions for gambling and arrested 11 suspects.

It was found that there were more than 73,000 people participating in gambling on the platform, involving 17 countries and regions at home and abroad.

The police reminded that the public security organs will continue to severely crack down on online gambling in accordance with the law.

The general public should actively participate in cooperation, and promptly report suspicious clues, instead of getting caught up in it by chance.
