China News Agency, Berlin, April 21 (Reporter Peng Dawei) The latest report released by the World Economic Forum on the 21st shows that China has made significant progress in the energy transition index in the past ten years.

The report believes that the above-mentioned progress made by China is mainly due to the country's reduction of energy intensity for economic development, the development of renewable energy to promote the decarbonization of the energy structure, and the increase in investment and infrastructure construction to continuously improve the policy environment.

The World Economic Forum, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, is an organization dedicated to promoting public-private cooperation.

The tenth "Promoting the Effective Transformation of Energy System" report published on the same day gave this result.

The report was jointly released by the World Economic Forum and Accenture.

The content of the report is mainly based on the interpretation of the "Energy Transition Index" in 2021.

The index benchmarks and analyzes the current performance of the energy systems of 115 countries in the three dimensions of the energy triangle, namely economic development and growth, environmental sustainability, and energy security and access, and examines how they are turning to safe, sustainable, and affordable And preparations for an inclusive energy system.

Taking into account the latest changes in the global energy landscape and the urgency of climate action, this year's report uses an adjusted "Energy Transition Index" research method.

The results of the 2021 study show that among the 115 countries that participated in the index assessment, 92 countries have improved their total scores in the past ten years, which indicates that the global energy transition is continuing to move in a positive direction.

Among them, China ranked 68th, a significant improvement over the previous year's ranking.

The World Economic Forum pointed out that China’s score has continued to increase steadily in the past ten years, especially in the past three years.

The report believes that China has recently announced its climate goal of "striving to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060", which shows that China is trying to take important steps towards a more sustainable energy structure transformation.
