The tech group showed the first Apple event this year as a video recording.

The corona pandemic still does not allow an event with guests in Cupertino.

Apple has a lot to present.

Above all, the in-house and powerful M1 chip, which is already built into the MacBooks, makes the most important innovations possible.

iPad Pro transmits over 5G

This includes the new iPads Pro, which will continue to be available in 11 and 12.9 inch display sizes.

Apple has not touched the design of the devices, they look like the models from last year.

But the new processor should make the iPads Pro 50 percent more powerful, the graphics should accelerate by up to 40 percent.

There is now a Thunderbolt connection for connecting the charging cable and peripheral devices, which can transfer data four times faster, for example from a digital camera or hard drive.

An external display can also be connected here.

For the first time, Apple has equipped its iPads with the latest and therefore fifth 5G cellular generation, which enables significantly faster internet speeds even when on the move, if the cellular network is expanded accordingly.

Apple also used a new display technology for the large iPad Pro.

The now built-in mini-LEDs enable a brighter screen with more contrast than the previously used LCD displays.

The twelve-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera on the front of the new iPad models is now optimized for video conferences.

Users are automatically recognized by the camera and shown in the center of the image, even if they are moving in the room.

If a second person comes into view, the camera zooms out so that everyone can be seen.

The iPads cost between 879 and 2409 euros, depending on the size of the display, memory and cellular reception.

They are available from May.

iMacs go flat and colorful again

The new iMacs look almost like an iPad from the side because of their angular design.

This is made possible by Apple's M1 chip, which has to be cooled significantly less than the Intel processors previously used.

As a result, only two tiny fans work in the case, which, according to Apple, can hardly be heard.

The new iMacs are only 11.5 millimeters thin.

The display has a resolution of 11.3 million pixels (4.5 K) and a diagonal of 24 inches (60.1 centimeters).

Despite the narrow housing, Apple has built in six speakers and three microphones, which are intended to largely ignore background noise.

A full HD camera enables video conferences.

On the back of the iMac there are two Thunderbolt ports, for example for connecting another display.

Apple has integrated an Ethernet connection (Lan) into the charger.

The iMacs come in seven colors: green, yellow, orange, rose, purple, blue, and silver.

A tribute to the colorful iMac G3 from 1998?

With the iMacs, Apple is also introducing three new wireless keyboards, two of which have the fingerprint scanner for Touch ID, for example to unlock the iMac and make Apple Pay payments.

The iMacs cost from 1449 euros, depending on the equipment, and will be available from May.

AirTag against oblivion

With a new accessory, Apple is expanding its “Where is?” Ecosystem.

The AirTags are small trackers that are attached to keys, in pockets or jackets and can be found on an iPhone.

They are made from polished stainless steel and have a tiny replaceable battery that is said to last more than a year.

If the iPhone model has a U1 chip, as is the case with the iPhone 12, the position of the tracker is shown on the display with the exact direction and distance.

If the lost items are outside of the Bluetooth range, they can be tracked down via the “Where is?” Network, which now consists of almost a billion Apple devices.

According to Apple, this is done anonymously and end-to-end encrypted.

The AirTags are then located by third-party Apple devices that are within Bluetooth range.

The owner is then shown the location on a map.

An AirTag costs 35 euros and will be available from the end of April.

Apple also makes its “Where is?” Service available to other manufacturers.

The partners now include the e-bike manufacturer VanMoof, which has built this location into its latest bike model.

Apple TV becomes colourfast

Apple has also revised its Apple TV Box 4K, which will contain the A12 Bionic chip in the future.

This means that the box can play HDR videos at a high frame rate with up to 60 frames per second and Dolby Vision.

The remote control is also new and has more buttons than before.

In addition, the new Apple TV can, in conjunction with an iPhone, adjust the color balance of the TV and display colors as realistic as possible - without changing the settings of the TV.

The Apple TV uses the iPhone with its light sensor as a color measuring device.

The new Apple TV is available from May and costs from 199 euros, depending on the memory size.

Podcast for money

Apple pioneered the podcast platform with iTunes.

But now other providers such as Spotify and Amazon are also getting involved.

Apple's market share has steadily declined even though the podcast app is pre-installed on Apple devices.

The application has now been redesigned and is to be supplemented with a subscription service that will start in 170 countries and regions from May.

It is true that millions of programs on Apple Podcasts will continue to be offered free of charge in the future.

But producers then also have the option of playing content to their listeners exclusively, earlier or without advertising, for a subscription fee.
