To respond to the particular situation caused by the coronavirus epidemic, several tax measures have been taken this year.

Compensation paid by the employer to offset the costs of teleworking can, for example, be deducted.

The 2020 tax filing campaign opened on Thursday.

You have until May 20 to send the paper versions, while for the online declaration, it will be between May 26 and June 8 depending on the region.

For the second year in a row, 12 million households will benefit from the automatic declaration.

If you do not have any information to correct on your return, then you do not have to sign or send anything.

On the other hand, this year, several measures were taken due to the exceptional situation linked to the coronavirus epidemic.

The "Covid premium" is deducted from income

These measures take account in particular of the explosion of teleworking.

Because by working at home, we print, by using more paper, more ink, perhaps we have had the internet specially installed, which causes additional expenses.

There are two scenarios.

Either your company pays you an allowance, and you can then deduct it from your income, up to 550 euros for the year, or you make a declaration for the actual costs, and you can then deduct these famous teleworking costs yourself. .

Another novelty: the covid premium of 1,500 euros paid by certain health administrations, in particular hospitals, is deducted from your income this year.

Ditto for overtime worked during the state of emergency period between March 16 and July 10.

But all this is normally done automatically, if your employer has declared it to the tax authorities.

Finally, if you made a donation to an association helping the most disadvantaged last year, you can deduct not 50%, but 75% of the amount of your donation, up to 1,000 euros.
