The Fisheries Agency has begun discussions on the cause analysis and policy at a study group of experts and fishery officials, saying that the unfishing of squid and saury that continues in the waters near Japan may continue for a long time. It was.

In recent years, record poor fishing of squid, saury, and salmon has continued in the waters near Japan, but it has been pointed out that it may continue for a long time in the future due to factors such as global warming.

For this reason, the Fisheries Agency has decided to set up a study group consisting of experts and fishery officials to analyze the causes and discuss policies.

At the first meeting on the 8th, Secretary of the Fisheries Agency Hideaki Yamaguchi said, "It is considered that the situation is different from the past poor fishing, and we must consider the future fishing industry."

The meeting was held privately, and the Fisheries Agency officials said that for squid, saury, and salmon, rising water temperatures and changes in ocean currents may be related to the growth of fry, and foreign catches. He explained that it could have an impact.

He also introduced the current situation in which it is difficult to predict the amount of resources due to changes in the marine environment that cannot be explained by past cases alone.

The study group will proceed with discussions with the aim of compiling the report by the end of next month.
