The announcement of the ban on interregional travel and the standardization of spring holidays have led to a real cascade of cancellations for tourism professionals.

The Gîtes de France network deplores 50,000 withdrawals for the next four weeks, or 25 million euros of shortfall.

Another blow to the tourism sector.

Between the impossibility of moving from one region to another and the standardization of the spring holidays, Emmanuel Macron's announcements on the new health restrictions got the better of tourist bookings.

Since the speech, hoteliers and professionals in the sector have been facing cascading cancellations, like Stéphane Simon.

But with 50,000 cancellations recorded for the next four weeks, for the Gîtes de France network, the pill must have struggled to pass.

"We must cancel almost all contracts over the period running until May 2, it is more than 25 million euros," said Solange Escure, its national director.

However, the lodgings had made a good start to the season "with progress observed everywhere because the French left in January, in February, and in March because they really needed some fresh air".

"We were on attendance rates which were higher than in previous years," even says Solange Escure.

All will not be caught up

But Emmanuel Macron's announcements put "a brutal stop" to all this.

"All will not be caught up."

And even if the official site of Gîtes de France recorded on Friday an increase in its consultations of 45%, it is not to leave in the spring.

"The French are already anticipating," confirms the specialist.

"They're booking for this summer."

So to try to stop the cancellations, some chains of campsites and hotel clubs are offering special offers for containment.
