March sales of five major department stores increased by more than 25% to 30% compared to the same month last year, when sales fell sharply due to the effects of the new coronavirus.

However, compared to the adult, each company has decreased and the situation is still severe.

The preliminary sales figures for March released by five major department stores on the 1st were all well above the same month last year.

The rate of increase was

▽ J. Front Retailing, which operates Daimaru and Matsuzakaya, 33.9%

▽ Hankyu Hanshin Department Store 32.7%

▽ Takashimaya 28.9%

▽ Mitsukoshi Isetan Holdings 25.8%

▽ Sogo & Seibu 25.7%.

However, compared to the same month before the spread of the new coronavirus infection, sales of Sogo & Seibu and Takashimaya, which have announced comparisons, and Hankyu Hanshin Department Store are all about 20% lower.

The other two companies are still in a difficult situation, below the adult level.

The government has a policy of applying "priority measures such as prevention of spread" to Osaka Prefecture, etc., and there is concern that the number of customers visiting the store and sales will decline again.
