The Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies announced the training of more than 30,000 trainees and professionals working in the banking and financial sector in all banks and financial institutions in the country, including 12 thousand and 299 UAE citizens, during the year 2020.

According to the institute, the training was conducted through “distance learning” techniques and the institute’s new educational platform “In-cite”, which was recently launched to be the first electronic educational platform for financial and banking sector programs in the Middle East, in addition to classrooms at the institute's headquarters.

The Director General of the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies, Jamal Al Jasmi, said that the UAE has presented a successful model for the distance learning system, thanks to the vision of its leadership and the network readiness that was evident with the start of taking preventive measures to preserve public health to spare society the risks of "Covid-19".

He stressed that the current crisis has strengthened the concept of studying and learning via the Internet, noting that most educational institutions, including the institute, have resorted to distance learning, and lessons and videos are widely shared and educational files are exchanged with students and trainees, to ensure that the educational process is not disrupted. The experience is successful, confirming the leadership's vision for several years to invest in digital technology in a large way, until most government services are done through electronic applications, as digital technology has contributed to the smooth running of all businesses.

Regarding the large numbers of remote trainees in the banking sector, Al Jasmi said: “Training 30,000 professionals in the banking sector, among them more than 12,000 citizens, represents a great achievement for the institute, as our team succeeded in building an organized educational experience through distance learning techniques and the platform. "Which includes courses between professionals in banking and finance, while helping them develop their skills to achieve their professional goals."

He added: “Our goal is to reach about 150 training programs on the (in-cite) platform,” stressing that the increasing growth in the number of participants in the electronic platform strengthens the institute's position as one of the most prominent educational institutes and institutions in the region, especially as the institute qualifies workers in the financial sector.
