A single-unit capacity of 1 million kilowatts hydro-generator set runners, marking the "heart" of the 16 million kilowatts of Baihetan Hydropower Station installed more than half of the "heart".
At 9 a.m., with an order from the construction commander of Gezhouba Mechanical and Electrical Company, the runner was slowly raised under the traction of the 1,300-ton bridge crane at the right bank plant, and was lifted nearly 8 meters above the ground, after 190 meters across 4 machine pits. , Safely and steadily fall into the 13th machine pit for precise docking.
The successful hoisting of the runner has laid a solid foundation for the orderly advancement of all units into production and power generation.

As the "heart" of the eighth unit of Baihetan Hydropower Station, the runner of Unit 13 is based on the national production and innovative use of long and short blade manufacturing methods, with "optimal performance, optimal structure, high safety and reliability". Characteristics, representing the world's advanced level, the outer diameter of the runner is 8.87 meters, the height is 3.79 meters, and the total weight is 338 tons. It was constructed and installed by China Energy Construction Gezhouba Electromechanical Company.
The runner is the core component of a hydro-turbine generator set, which determines the flow capacity, hydraulic efficiency, cavitation performance of the hydro-turbine, and the operation stability of the entire hydro-turbine generator set. It is known as the "heart" of the hydro-turbine generator set.
In order to ensure that the "heart" is safely hoisted in place, Gezhouba Electromechanical Co., Ltd. strictly carries out the safety and technical disclosure of the hoisting process, conducts trial hoisting exercises in advance, and strictly controls the three aspects of wheel center adjustment, level adjustment, and elevation review when entering the machine pit for docking. Control the installation quality and provide technical guarantee for the smooth hoisting and precise docking of the runner.

Baihetan Hydropower Station has designed and installed 16 hydroelectric generating units with a single unit capacity of 1 million kilowatts, and 8 units with 1 million kilowatts installed on the left and right banks. It is the world’s largest hydroelectric unit with the largest unit capacity, and is a fully localized 100-unit independently designed and manufactured by China. The development and installation of a 10,000-kilowatt unit is far more difficult than any unit under construction or in operation in the world.

At present, the assembly of Unit 14 of the first batch of units put into operation has been completed and has entered the waterless commissioning, and the assembly of Unit 15 has been 90% completed.
Baihetan Hydropower Station is located in Ningnan County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province and Qiaojia County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province. The first batch of units is scheduled to be put into operation before July 1, 2021, and all units will be put into operation in July 2022.
