To date, the number of registered self-employed in Russia has reached 2 million.

This was announced on Tuesday, March 23rd, by the Federal Tax Service (FTS).

According to the ministry, more than 5 thousand Russians receive self-employed status in the country every day.

In total, since the launch of the experiment in January 2019, its participants registered income for 327 billion rubles and paid taxes for 8 billion rubles.

“Self-employed people earn more than 1 billion rubles every day.

At the same time, 85% of those registered earlier had no official income from entrepreneurial activity, and 40% had no official income at all in the year before registration, ”the Federal Tax Service said.

Recall that self-employed people include people who work for themselves, receive money for their services from individuals and legal entities, do not have an employer and do not involve additional workers in their activities.

The annual income of such citizens should not exceed 2.4 million rubles.

Also note that the self-employed pay professional income tax.

When working with individuals, its rate is 4%, and when settling with individual entrepreneurs and organizations - 6%.

“Now self-employment is the easiest way to start your own business or legalize income from working for yourself.

Registration takes only a couple of minutes and takes place online, there is no need to submit reports and keep accounting.

The self-employed can only work and earn money without thinking about paperwork.

At the same time, the tax rate is the lowest when compared with other forms of business organization, "Anastasia Uskova, general director of the Rocket Work platform, told RT.

In addition, Russians registered as self-employed automatically receive a tax deduction of 10 thousand rubles.

They also do not need to pay insurance premiums.

“Self-employed status also gives an opportunity to make pension savings, as well as count on the protection of their interests in court in case of their violation.

In turn, for the economy as a whole, self-employment provides replenishment of the budget through tax collection, provides jobs and reduces government spending on unemployment benefits, "said Artyom Deev, head of the analytical department at AMarkets, in an interview with RT.

In addition, cooperation with the self-employed is beneficial to big business, experts say.

According to the Federal Tax Service, in 2020 more than 258 thousand organizations used the services of such Russians.

“Big business and entrepreneurs are interested in self-employed as performers on temporary and one-time contracts.

With such cooperation, the customer does not pay insurance premiums, and, as a rule, self-employed pay taxes for themselves.

Therefore, business in such cases significantly saves on personnel, ”explained Anastasia Uskova.

Note that from January 1, 2019, Russians began to pay tax on professional income in Moscow, Moscow and Kaluga regions, as well as in the Republic of Tatarstan.

Since January 2020, a special tax regime for the self-employed has been launched in 19 more regions, and since July 1, all regions of the country have received the opportunity to join the initiative.

Meanwhile, according to the Federal Tax Service, at the moment about 30% of self-employed work outside the region of their residence.

Most come to work in Moscow, the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Territory and Tatarstan.

“The main activities of the self-employed are: taxi, construction and marketing services, consulting, renting apartments.

Young people (up to 30 years old) mainly work in the field of marketing and advertising, and also provide a delivery service.

Self-employed people aged 40 and over are renting out housing, providing counseling and tutoring, ”the department said.

It is curious that more than half of all self-employed in Russia (60%) are men.

Most often they work as plumbers, car repair and maintenance technicians, loaders, taxi drivers and electricians.

In turn, among self-employed Russian women, such professions as a manicurist, a beautician, a hairdresser, a speech therapist and a nanny are especially popular.

According to Anastasia Uskova, in the next decade the number of self-employed in Russia may reach 10 million people.

One of the main advantages of this trend for the economy should be a decrease in shadow employment.

This was told to RT by Sergey Elin, an expert on financial and legal security of business of the all-Russian public organization of small and medium-sized businesses "Support of Russia".

“The number of self-employed is growing rapidly.

This suggests that the trend towards whitewashing the economy is obvious to everyone in society.

The majority have an understanding that the focus of attention of the authorities today is not only the incomes of entrepreneurs, but also of citizens.

Therefore, getting out of the gray zone and paying all taxes legally is becoming the rule, ”Yelin emphasized.
